QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS @ palacio de deportes

Publié le par Olivier

25.10.2008 QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS @ Palacio de Deportes, Madrid, Spain

Rhapsody without Bohemia. It is clear that choosing Paul Rodgers as the new frontman for Queen was a risky challenge. After a successfull tour in 2005, with no other goal than to pay hommage to the great Freddie Mercury, Brian May and Roger Taylor deciced that recording new stuff would be interesting and a good excuse for touring again. The result is a 70's oriented rock album, good for what it is but very far from what a Queen album should be. The shows are though full of emotion and despite a somewhat cold welcome for the new songs, the audience still sings loud the classic Queen songs, which are part of our lives. Rhapsody was there, with a brilliant Brian May playing like in the old times, but there were no sign of Bohemia as Paul Rodgers is so far from the eccentricity of his predecesseur.
